VACANCY: Financial Planning & Decision Support Executive

Our client, a leading telecoms operator based in Malta, is looking for a Financial Planning & Decision Support Executive to join their Finance team.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Assisting the Financial Planning Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for the preparation of financial forecasts of the company and providing timely and relevant variance analysis reports to management for decision making.

Key Accountabilities / Key Activities:
Manage preparation of reports, providing structure and guidance to others:
•    Prepare reports related to the performance of company business/product/market segments that communicate the key issues and provide recommendations.

Prepare and communicate commercially viable business plans, targets and budgets:
•    Understand and communicate to management the quantitative and qualitative information stemming out of the Company Strategy.
•    Prepare budgets and forecasts in line with company strategic goals, group requirements, and deadlines

Analyse and interpret variance from plans, identify underlying trends. Identify and communicate corrective actions resulting from financial analysis:
•    Manage the preparation of timely, accurate and relevant variance analysis reports and provide recommendations.
•    Identify impact of sustained negative/positive variances on the company plans.

Technical / Professional Expertise:

•    Graduate in Accountancy, Management or Economics
•    Able to provide guidance on key assumptions relevant to presented financial reports.
•    Experience of reviewing budgets and forecasts including income statements, capital expenditure and cash flows
•    Project management with the ability to balance complex detail with wider commercial matters
•    Excellent written communication and presentation skills to ensure credibility with senior management.

Hot air

A man flying in a hot air balloon realised that he was lost. Reducing altitude, he spotted a man on the ground and descended to shouting range.

“Excuse me,” he shouted. “Can you help me? I promised my friend I would meet him a half hour ago, but I don’t know where I am.”

The man below responded: “Yes. You are in a hot air balloon, hovering approximately 30 feet above this field. You are between 40 and 42 degrees North Latitude, and between 58 and 60 degrees West Longitude.”

“You must be an engineer,” responded the balloonist.
“I am,” the man replied. “How did you know?”
“Well,” said the balloonist, “everything you have told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost.”

Whereupon the man on the ground responded, “You must be a manager.”
“That I am” replied the balloonist, “but how did you know?”
“Well,” said the man, “you don’t know where you are, or where you’re going. You have made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are in the exact same position you were before we met, but now it is somehow my fault.”

Responsibilities:
As a member of the Marketing Team the selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out marketing and advertising campaigns in the Russian market. The main tasks will include:

VACANCY: IT Security and Networking Professional

Our client is a successful and long established international trade finance group based in Malta with a global network of offices, subsidiaries and joint venture companies including an IT subsidiary providing advisory, technology and outsourcing services and solutions to the financial services industry worldwide.

To support its growth, the company is looking to recruit an IT Security and Networking Professional. The selected candidate will form part of the team responsible for all IT Infrastructure, Security and Service requirements for local and International operations forming part of the Group.

Main Responsibilities:
• Assist in the design, implementation, management and support of industry-standard security solutions for perimeter, content, network, internal, end-point on proprietary and standard operating systems, including network access control (firewalls), intrusion prevention, network segregation, anti-virus, email hygiene and web filtering technologies as well as security of  installed components (including web-based and email services)
• Assist in the design, implementation, management and support of network technologies deployed within the Group
• Manage, review and respond to logs generated by network and IT security systems and related events
• Provide support to other project teams on IT security and networking issues
Requirements:
• A proven all-round expertise with strong specialisations in data networking, IP technologies and IT Security
• Previous experience in network management, telecommunications, messaging and collaboration, virtualisation, business continuity, infrastructure and related technologies
• A minimum of 3 years experience working in demanding mission-critical IT environments
• An engineering or IT-related degree together with relevant vendor certifications will be considered an asset
• An outstanding team player
• Shows initiative and commitment together with a capacity for taking on responsibility and meeting tight deadlines

VACANCY: Bank Clerks

Our client, a leading international bank established in Malta is looking for two Bank Clerks to join their growing team.

This role reports into the Deputy Head and Head of department.

Main Responsibilities
• Admin duties like filing, preparation and maintenance of files, bank systems and Reconciliations
 
• Diarising future events and following pending issues

• Responsibility for the scanning of all security documents received by the bank

• Following up on any pending requirements from our customers

• Ensuring that assistance is given, whenever required, to the Supervisor and ultimately Head of Department, hence assisting efficiently all tasks in order to maintain our service quality towards clients

• The preparation of accurate firm bids to clients

• The preparation of payments and relevant accounting entries

• Communicate with the internal/external customers of the company

Requirements
• A formal qualification like a Diploma in Banking and Financial Services, or equivalent

• A good eye for detail

• Ability and eagerness to learn new products
