Our client is a leading law firm with a substantial international client base and a predominantly corporate and commercial practice focusing mainly on financial services. Due to continuous growth they are now seeking the services of highly motivated and experienced Senior Anti Money Laundering – Counter Terrorist Financing Compliance Manager.
Purpose of Role
The selected candidate will be experienced in Anti-Money-Laundering-Counter Terrorist Financing, as s/he will assume a senior managerial leadership role in setting policy, establishing and maintaining systems, procedures and controls aimed at addressing the money laundering and terrorist financing risks affecting the Firm (which includes its related entities) in the services it provides, and to assist and advise all grades within the Firm in relation to its operations.
As a senior member of the AML/CTF team, the manager will play an active role in building on the Firm’s existing overall AML/CTF structures and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
o Reviewing and auditing the Firm’s existing policies and procedures relating to all aspects of Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Finance regulation and compliance;
o Developing further policies and procedures in the field, as may be required going forward, and keeping abreast with developments in the field
o Effectively implementing and updating proper systems and procedures in the AML-CTF field, throughout the Firm and adopting a leadership role in the ongoing monitoring of relevant business
o Working to identify and mitigate the risks associated with existing and new business
o Assessing the impact on (and properly implementing necessary changes to) current and future policies and procedures of key legal and regulatory developments and international sanctions, and identifying industry best practice, guidelines and related literature helpful in the formulation, maintenance and enhancement of such policies and procedures
o Providing staff members with expert advice on the Firm’s documentation, systems and procedures in this field
o Leading in the development and operation of the Firm’s AML/CTF monitoring programme and developing further policies and procedures in this field as necessary
o Developing and delivering tailored training programmes for the legal teams and support divisions, as well as for the Firm’s in-house academic institute (the Institute of Legal Studies);
o Participating in the wider work of Risk Management Compliance (including country and political risk) and in ad-hoc projects, as required
o Being responsible for the preparation and ongoing maintenance of internal documentary and other informational requirements in terms of applicable AML-CTF laws and regulations
o Being available to directly participate within legal teams in respect of requests for assistance in the AML-CTF regulatory field by clients of the Firm.
Qualifications – Key Skills and Attributes:
o University level of education, with significant hands-on AML-CTF experience (specifying where gained)
o In- depth knowledge of key laws, regulations, guidance and best practices (both locally and internationally)
o Client-focused with client-facing and persuasive communication skills (both written and verbal); confidence in being challenged
o A team player able to build strong, open relationships with colleagues and clients, but also capable of working independently, on own initiative, determining priorities and meeting deadlines
o Strong commercial orientation with proven ability to undertake comprehensive and diverse projects and good organizational skills
o Ability to effectively implement agreed protocols across the Firm will be imperative
